Kennesaw, Georgia -- After splitting games with Florida Gulf Coast last weekend, Kennesaw returned back to the Ice Forum to face North Carolina State. These teams in the past have kept games close with big hits, quick shots and competitive play. NC State was looking to bounce back from their loss last year against KSU. However, this opening game of the series would not be their opportunity. NC State jumped scoring early in the first period only to be answered and topped by the Owls. From there on Kennesaw dominated play and would take the win 9-3. In attendance was Kendrick Dean, a Grammy winning songwriter and singer who has worked with artist such as Chris Brown and Brandy. He was honored to drop the puck and to be amongst many avid KSU hockey fans. The Owls would continue their winning streak winning the second game against NC State, 9-1.
The Owls this first semester of the 2009-2010 season showed early promise of victory. Even though the team was plagued with injury early, rookies and veterans are starting to play as a team contending against some of the better teams in the ACHA. With a winning record of 11 and 6, KSU looks forward to making it for another National Championship run with more players coming in second semester.
Unfortunately, the team will not be playing anymore games until 2010. Their first game back will be Friday, January 8, 2010 at 10pm against the guys who started it all, the KSU Alumni game. Come out and support both teams as they anticipate a great game.
