Kennesaw, Georgia -- The American Collegiate Hockey Association, (ACHA), Kennesaw State Owls hockey program is pleased to announce that Ken Honeyman has been named as the Head Coach of their men's hockey team. Mr. Honeyman comes to the OWL's with over 30 years of coaching experience in Calgary, Denver and Atlanta. He has consistently coached winning programs and the most recent was a trip to the U.S.A. Hockey National Championships with the Atlanta Fire Midget Team in Buffalo this year. Over the past few years, Mr. Honeyman has worked with and placed young players entering the top U.S Prep Schools. He has coached a number of players now playing on Division I and III college hockey teams in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Dartmouth, Holy Cross as well as a number of players playing in junior programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
"I am excited about the opportunity to work with this excellent group of young athletes at KSU. This is a first class program with great potential and will be a serious contender for a National Championship for many years to come," Mr. Honeyman stated. "This team is built to win, they have serious athletes that are dedicated to playing college hockey and they are committed to success," he added.
"The addition of Ken to our organization is a major win for the program as we strive to win another National Championship and continue to build a first class organization capable of attracting the best hockey players. His experience and passion to build winning programs with a focus on systems and discipline mirrors the top successful programs in the ACHA," said Bill Morrison, Director of Hockey for the OWLS.
Mr. Honeyman is President of NuQuest Inc., a business development firm located in Atlanta. He is married, wife Kathy, with two children, Katy 25, and son, K.C. 21, now playing NCAA collegiate hockey for Southern New Hampshire University.
Also, North Star Hockey and KSU Ice Hockey will be doing a 3-day Junior A Evaluation Camp at the Town Center Ice Forum on July 11th, 12th and 13th. This camp includes 9 hours of ice time, drill and game evaluation, personal physical base line conditioning evaluation and an academic evaluation.
