Kennesaw, Georgia -- In their first season in Division 2, the Owls have found some success in the first half of the year. After a rough start, Kennesaw was able to rebound and string together 9 wins in a row before losing to the #1 ranked team in the Southeast, Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles. The Owls amassed a record of 11-7-1, which places them #8 in the Southeast Rankings in 2007. Numerous challenges await the Owls in 2008 as the Owls face higher ranked D2 Southeast Teams. KSU will play William Paterson University at home, then go on a road trip to face FGCU in January, and then travel to Ohio to take on University of Miami, Ohio. These games will be against the top three ranked teams in the Southeast. Kennesaw will also face #7 Wright State University at home.
The first half of the season saw contributions from returning players such as Defenseman Curtis Morrison, Forwards Rick Lirette, Jerry Holden and Christ Koutnik, and Goalie Steve Hartley. With each season comes new faces and this year was no different. Freshmen making contributions to the team this year included Defensemen Justin Blais and Andy Buckner, and Forwards Sean Bernhardt and Jordan Crews. The first half of the season has been a roller coaster ride for the Owls and has brought much success.
